Alice Corkum attended the Provincial Normal College in Truro, Nova Scotia and began her teaching career on East Ironbound Island, Nova Scotia with five students. Alice Walker taught for twenty-three years in Lunenburg and Kings Counties, Nova Scotia retiring from Aldershot Elementary in 1981. She gave of her time and talents to almost every board and committee at Kentville United Baptist Church in Kentville, Nova Scotia where she is remembered for her dedication, exceptional programmes, organizational skills and prayers. She also volunteered at Kings Historical Society in Kentville and the Kingswood Camp in Alylesford, Nova Scotia.51
